During Spring Break 2017, a team from 1st Presbyterian Church-Midland will be traveling to the Central American country of Belize, and working with The Word at Work ministry reaching out and sharing the gospel with the people of Belize while working side-by-side with the local community and building upon a foundation of relationships with that community.

We are ending a long day in the village again, full of lots of memories made at the school and hard work put in at the worksite. I think everyone has their bearings here now and are getting comfortable with life in Belize. Life is so simple here, it is hard not to love it! ...

Friends! We had such a productive and beautiful day today. Despite the bit of rain we received, which happened to be quite refreshing from the harsh sun, all locations (kitchen, church, and school) worked well and receive much progress, especially the porch we are helping to make at the church ...

We are back from the village and exhausted but thankful for the great day we just had! This morning started with Chena’s awesome cooking once again. We had eggs, sopapillas (SO GOOD), papaya, beans and watermelon juice. We then headed to the village where we did a devotional with some of the men in charge of the project before splitting up into our different tasks for the day ...

Today was an eventful day spent in the village! We had the pleasure of getting to worship with our friends in El Progresso at their church, which was so special. Walter gave the sermon today on the story of Jonah and the whale in Spanish as well as English, and the thing that struck me the most was the fact that there were no barriers between us and God. Hello everyone from Belize!

We have settled in after a long day of travelling, and have successfully finished our first day in Belize! It started this morning at 4:30 AM at the Midland airport, connecting to our flight in Houston, on to Belize. We arrived around 1 and continued our travel by vans; and myself, Megan and Krista got the pleasure of riding with 2 of our El Progresso friends, Victor and Julio in their truck. When asked , “where we saw God today?” during family time this evening, I couldn’t help but smile at the fact that our car ride wasn’t an accident ...
